Job description
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Engineering Technician to join our team in Belgium. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting prototype research and product development at miDiagnostics. Your responsibilities will include testing and verifying designs, performing troubleshooting and maintenance, and ensuring optimal performance. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers and scientists, contributing to design improvements and effectively implementing feedback. This role ultimately aims to support the development of innovative sterility and quality tests for use in the biopharma industry.
Key responsibilities
- Prototype Development and Testing:
- Conduct performance and reliability tests on designs, including planning and execution of experiments, analysis and interpretation of results.
- Assemble, calibrate, and troubleshoot prototype devices and components.
- Design Verification and Quality Assurance:
- Perform functional tests to ensure prototypes meet design specifications.
- Maintain detailed records of testing procedures and results.
- Desktop CNC and 3D Printing Operations:
- Operate and maintain desktop CNC machines to create components for prototype devices.
- Program and adjust desktop CNC machines for precision cuts and tolerances.
- Set up and operate 3D printers to produce prototypes, fixtures, and jigs.
- Troubleshoot issues with CNC machining and 3D printing processes.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues during prototype development.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of tools, equipment, and prototypes.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines and 3D printers.
- Collaboration and Documentation:
- Work closely with engineers and scientists to implement design improvements.
- Prepare technical documentation, including assembly instructions, machining protocols, and test reports.
Job requirements
- A professional bachelor’s degree (professionele bachelor) or equivalent by experience in one of the following fields (or comparable):
- Electromechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Industrial Sciences, Automation Technology, Precision Mechanics
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a relevant technical role
- Hands-on skills in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic systems.
- Knowledge with desktop CNC machining or 3D printing technologies
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines).
- Good knowledge of English is essential for team collaboration and documentation.
